Myanmar Security Agencies’ Direct Involvement in U Ko Ni’s death
Three ex-military officers are reportedly involved in the assassination of NLD Muslim lawyer U Ko Ni.
One, former colonel who was a Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing’s security officer, has escaped arrest.
And Home Affairs Minister Lt-General Kyaw Swe, who reports to his boss Commander in Chief, explained to the Burmese press that it was a murder committed by extremists patriotic youth.
The emerging circumstantial evidence – for instance, the airport security unit’s cooperation as the ex-Colonel arrived at Yangon International Airport before the assassin pulled the trigger at point blank range, the assassin’s use of 9 mm pistol, standard Myanmar army issue for all officers of the armed forces, the Home Minister’s attempts at deflections, the miraculous escpae of Min Aung Hlaing’s former security officer from Naypyidaw where CCTV cameras had reportedly stopped working where this ex-officer was last captured near a public park, etc. – points to the security agencies’ involvement.
Wirathu, not a monk, is a yellow dog, that barks for the military.
The military intelligence uses him – and another one like Sitagu, again not a monk by any definition, as decoys to distract the tradition-bound, racist “Buddhist” public from things that really matter.
