May I present what I know, about that unfortunate incidence regarding the destroying of the Masjid
This is the photo of the North Zaingnaing No.5 Road Masjid at Bago (Pegu). At that time, we already got the news that some Buddhist Monks were coming to destroy the Masjid.
Because of that, about 50 Muslim youths waited in the Masjid to defend and fight back the thugs. As the police and Military had a (fake) road block, the monks could not come from the main road. So they tried to come in from the market-bridge road (Zay Taddar). Some of them even crossed the stream. Than only we knew that they were the fake monks as they wore the military uniforms underneath their saffron robes and were fully equipped with walkie-talkies.

At the market road (Zae Lann) there were few Monasteries. There were a lot of monks at Kya-khat-wine Monastery. But no one was allowed to join the mob. The head Abbot was very strict with discipline. Three young student monks just followed the mob to watch because of curiosity but the Abbot caned, disrobed and dismissed them from the Monastery.
Once the police noticed that Muslim youths were waiting in the Masjid, they went and told the youths not to watch there but to go back home as they (police) were going to give security for the Masjid’s safety. They also give assurance to the Masjid trustees as if they would give full security to the Masjid.
On the opposite side of the road in front of the Masjid, the soldiers were positioned as if they were going to protect the Masjid.
Once the “bald dogs” (fake monks) came, police give way to them to start destroying the Masjid. Actually the police came to the Masjid to protect the monks from the defensive resistant attack from the Muslim youths. The two neighbors on the sides of the Masjids were Muslim houses. In front there was Attasia and Masjid’s Wakaffed hall.
These photos were taken by a tourist from the rest-house and published on Google. The authorities even later tried to search the photographer at the rest-house.
The same modus operandi was practiced in Min Hla town and Kyowt Pin Kauk town, bluffing the Muslims that Military would give security and even asked the “protection fees” but at last Masjids were damaged.
These were all done by the Military government. We are still longing for a really good leader.
